Description

The Panavia Tornado is a multirole combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing design, jointly developed and manufactured by Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. Introduced in the late 1970’s, the Tornado formed the backbone of the strike force in the above mentioned countries. The aircraft still currently remains in its active service with the German, Italian and Saudi Air Forces. The Tornados of various countries took part in the 1991 Gulf War, and they also were subsequently used in Bosnian, Kosovo and Iraq wars as well as in Libyan civil war and in smaller roles in the Middle East.

The following tag was crafted from the Panavia Tornado F.3 (Air Defence Variant) ZE968, which had its debut during the 1991 Gulf War, where the aircraft flew combat air patrol sorties. During ZE968 operational service with the Royal Air Force, the aircraft was also used by the Operational Evaluation Unit at RAF Coningsby. The aircraft was also mentioned to have operated at the No. 29 and No. 111 Squadrons during its service.

The Tornado fleet was retired in 2019 by the Royal Air Force. With the Tornado’s many parts being released to the general public, our team was fortunate enough to acquire some belonging to ZE968 for the aviation enthusiasts to enjoy!
