Description
The Antonov AN-2 is a mass-produced Soviet biplane created by the Antonov Design Bureau in 1946. It remained in active production until 2001.
The piece of the AN-2 in your hold was produced under the license of the Polish aerospace manufacturer PZL-Mielec in the Polish town of Mielec .
The Antonov was produced in the version “R”, which was an agricultural modification of the plane, enabling it to lift up to 1,300kg of liquid or powder chemicals for field cropping.
Our AN-2 had a factory number 1G209-32 and was delivered to the Ukrainian division of Aeroflot in 1984 with the registration CCCP-81638, where the aircraft served up till 1993.
With the collapse of the Soviet regime, the aircraft served at the Universal-Avia company in Ukraine up till 2006. It was then purchased by a small agricultural company called “Pegasus”, which had the aircraft in its active service till 2011. From 1993 and up till the end of its career the aircraft flew under the registration of UR-81638.
The Air Worthiness Certificate of this AN-2 was terminated on 23.07.2013 and the aircraft remained on a field in Dnipropetrovsk region in Ukraine till January 2022.
Fuselage Creations team purchased this aircraft to preserve certain parts of it as aircraft memorabilia.
