Description
The BAC Jet Provost developed by Hunting Percival Aircraft Ltd in Great Britain in the 50’s. The aircraft was in active use by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1955 to 1993.
A grand total of 110 JP T.5 variant aircraft were ordered by the RAF, which the following tags are made from.
The XW304, also known as 62 White was built in 1970 and shortly after being delivered to RAF Finningley, in South Yorkshire, UK.
The aircraft was used for its direct purpose and trained the new Royal Air Force recruits before they moved on to their newly assigned jets. During its service at RAF Finningley the ‘304’ suffered a bird strike receiving some substantial damage. As part of the repair, the vertical stabilizer was changed on the aircraft and in 2021 Fuselage Creations was able to purchase it to turn it into tags. After the repair, the T.5 continued to serve with Royal Air Force.
As the aircraft served RAF Finningley, which today is Doncaster Sheffield International Airport, and is currently undergoing a trouble period in its existence and is being forced to close, we have made this tag to commemorate the airport and people who have worked and served on this site over its operational years.
