Description
The Mil Mi-24 (NATO reporting name: Hind) is one of the most recognisable gunship, attack helicopters out there!
Due to its shape this helicopter is also referred to as the ‘crocodile’ in the eastern hemisphere of the world. Developed in the late 1969, this impressive aircraft first saw combat action in 1977 during the war in Ethiopia. Since then the ‘Hind’ has been involved in every major conflict and war carrying out its primary role as well as being a low-capacity troop transport helicopter.
The piece of ‘Hind’ in your possession belongs to Mil Mi-24P, the military designator 32 Red, registered as RF-95286. It was downed outside of the village of Kozarovychi, in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine on the 5th of March 2022. This particular crash has become famous worldwide as the downing of the Hind was perfectly captured on the camera footage. Reportedly, a Polish made Piorun MANPAD was responsible for the successful hit of the target.
