SKU: N/A Category:

Description

The Focke-Wulf FW190 was one of the most feared and potent of the Luftwaffe World War 2 fighters. Fitted with a high power 14 cylinder BMW radial engine, the performance outstripped its biggest foe, the Spitfire V. It also enabled the FW190 to lift larger loads than the BF109, allowing its use as a day fighter, fighter-bomber, ground-attack aircraft and to a lesser degree, night fighter.
The ‘Butcher Bird’ was well-liked by its pilots. Some of the Luftwaffe’s most successful fighter aces claimed many of their kills while flying it. It had greater firepower than the BF109 and, at low to medium altitude, superior manoeuvrability, in the opinion of German pilots who flew both fighters. It was regarded as one of the best fighters of World War 2 and over 20,000 units were produced.
The piece you are holding was crafted from a panel which was recovered from a crash site in Latvia. Despite the crash damage, the panel retained a large amount of paint and a placard.
The exact history and aircraft serial is not known.
